Radio Broadcasting

I became hooked on public debate in college and arguing for truth has been a passion of mine ever since. By the time I graduated, I knew I wanted to minister in this way.

God started to fulfill this vision almost immediately and, as I shared elsewhere, I spent my years in graduate school hosting a talk radio program in Portland. Along with co-hosting "Hot Potato Radio" on KOTK with Bob Cryder, I also started my own program on KPSU, the Portland State University radio station.

Moving to Southern California did not dim my love of radio. and “The Don Johnson Show”  premiered in January, 2005 on Newstalk 590 KTIE. As a general market (secular) talk station, it reached the broad audience I desired.

The show on KTIE went great, and I may return to it at some point, but I found that most of my audience was actually listening online rather than over the air, so to save some money and reach the same people I set up a studio in my office and moved to strictly podcasting early in 2006. The response has remained phenomenal. I get emails from all over the world and get to interact with people of all worldviews.

We also broadcast a preaching show, "The Narrow Road with Don Johnson" for a year on a network of stations in the U.S. You can listen to the archives here.
