Preaching

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:14)

Paul’s logic is pretty straightforward: preaching is absolutely essential to the evangelistic task. As such, it is the cornerstone ministry of DJEM. In fact, I consider all the other areas of DJEM outreach to be pre-evangelism. They are designed to prepare people to hear the Word of God proclaimed through a preacher. There is something unique and powerful that takes place when the Holy Spirit speaks through one person to another. I believe God has occasionally used me in that way in the past and I would like Him to do the same as much as possible in the future.

I preach at evangelistic events, churches, camps, colleges, conferences and wherever else people will gather to hear. I also offer evangelism training seminars. To ask any questions or invite me to speak at your event, please click here to contact me.

Some of my more popular messages and series include:

  • The Gospel According to Exodus: What the Old Testament Story Teaches us about Jesus and Salvation
  • The Comfort Trap: Why so Many Christians Lapse into Spiritual Mediocrity
  • The Good Life According to Jesus: A Closer Look at the Beatitudes
  • The Top Four Lies of Satan

Another important aspect of DJEM’s preaching ministry involves the dissemination of recorded sermons. With all the awesome technology available these days, God is able to use the same preaching event more than once. Many of my messages are recorded and it is my goal to make them available to as many people as I can. You can listen to them at takethenarrowroad.com or just ask and I will send you a free CD.

I believe God has called me to preach. Sometimes I wish He hadn’t—it’s a tough thing to do—but in those moments I know that there is nothing else I could do. As Jeremiah said "His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot." (Jer. 20:9)
